Rum Tasting and Daiquiri Creation Session
Join us for a fun tasting experience featuring three exceptional rums! During this event, you'll have the opportunity to sample each rum individually, allowing you to discern and appreciate their unique characteristics. Following the tasting session, we'll transition into a hands-on daiquiri-making workshop, where you'll learn how to craft this iconic cocktail using the sampled rums. Explore how the distinct qualities of each rum influence the flavor profile of the daiquiri, creating a truly personalized and flavorful experience. Don't miss this chance to elevate your palate and cocktail-making skills with us!
There will be 2 tasting sessions, one from 5-6pm and another from 6-7pm.
This event is open to the public, so bring your friends! The rums will be available for purchase at Club Liquor afterwards.
Sampled Rums
1.75L Mount Gay Eclipse Platinum Silver ($29)
It was in 1910 that the appearance of Haley’s Comet coincided with a total solar eclipse, and this event is said to have inspired Mount Gay to create their Eclipse branded rums. Mount Gay 1703 Eclipse Silver Rum is composed of rum distillate produced from both pot and column still distillation. Although this rum is clear, it has nevertheless been matured in charred white oak barrels, barrels which previously held American whiskey. The lightly aged rum is filtered clear and bottled at 40 % alcohol by volume.
ABV: 80 Proof
Type: White Barbados Rum
Taste: Slightly dry entry, some citrus, fruits, mineral and flower notes, medium-bodied. Hints of ginger, lingering lemon balm/citrus notes
Drinks: Works well for most drinks like Daiquiris, Grog and Mojito
1L Hamilton “White Stache” Aged White Rum ($20)
The story from Mr. Ed Hamilton: "In the twenty years I lived on a yacht sailing the West Indies I really enjoyed drinking some great white rums. Back in the US, I missed that clean, fresh flavor of aged molasses-based rum that had been carbon-filtered to remove the color gained during a few years spent aging in oak barrels in the tropics. The bulk of this rum is aged rum from Trinidad to which I blended sugar cane and molasses distillates from Guyana and Santo Domingo I want you to know there is nothing in this bottle but rum and filtered, well water. 43.5% ABV, no flavors, sugar, glycerin or anything else."

Type: White Blended Rums from Trinidad, Guyana and Santo Domingo
Taste: Light, Cuban style rum, complex, nuanced, delicious yet filtered and clean with coconut notes.
Drinks: Created specifically for Daiquiris, but can be used for most any cocktail calling for a white rum.
750ML Probitas Blended White Rum ($30)
A style of rum that would have made your daiquiri in the 1930s. For the first time in history, Probitas is a joint venture between Caribbean distilleries to produce a blended Rum. Coming from wo of the most iconic distilleries in two of the most respected islands in the Caribbean for Rum making- Foursquare Rum Distillery in Barbados and Hampden Estate in Jamaica. Distilled, matured blended and bottled in the Caribbean. No sugar, flavor, color nor neutral/multi column spirit added. Bottled at a higher proof, 47% ABV (alcohol to volume) to showcase bold character, especially in cocktails.
ABV: 94 Proof
Type: blended rums from Barbados and Jamaica
Taste: Fruit notes, lemon zest and vanilla leading the way in one big wonderful swirl. The fruit notes are interesting; hints of strawberry, ripe cantaloupe, and tangy orange. This is countered/balanced by vegetal notes that give the rum some earthiness as the heat of the liquid comes into play. These flavors linger in a nice long finish.
