Even so, it too often seems under appreciated and overlooked. We're here to change that narrative, to showcase the versatility and complexity of rum through tastings, events, and educational experiences. Thus, the Strong Waters Rum Society was born!

It all started with a shared passion and a vision to change the way people perceive rum—a spirit often overshadowed by its counterparts but holding a depth and diversity that we believe deserves recognition.

Why the name "strong waters"?
The name comes from Beachbum Berry’s “Potions of the Caribbean”. He describes the origins of rum saying that "other foods that no European had ever seen… were fermented into strong waters by the natives". We thought that was a nod to rum's unique history and that it would make a fitting name.
