A tasting and discussion on Rums from Saint Lucia and Martinique
This week we are showing two rums; one from St. Lucia - Bounty Dark and one from Martinique - Clement VSOP. Island Tiki Mobile Bar is making Mai Tais from these for Thursday evening's Rum School at Club Liquor Downtown Menasha. It is a free event sponsored by Club Liquor Downtown Menasha and Strong Waters Rum Society.

Mai Tai

1oz Clément VSOP
0.5oz fresh lime juice
0.5oz orange curaçao
0.5oz orgeat
0.25 Demerara syrup
Bounty Dark Premium Rum (750ML)
ABV: 43% ABV / 86 Proof
Region: Saint Lucia
Age: 6 year pot still rum aged in ex-Bourbon casks
Taste: The added pot still rum delivers a punchy character that mixes with a velvety body, and a long smooth finish with radiant splendor.
Bounty Premium Dark is lush and chewy from the extra body of the pot still rum. Chocolate, hazelnut, and toffee overlay on top of cinnamon and tobacco leading to caramelized sugar and brown butter on the finish.
Rhum Clément V.S.O.P. (750ML)
ABV: 40% / 80 Proof
Region: Martinique
Age: 4 years of tropical aging in ex-Bourbon and French oak.
Taste: Very soft and balanced. Overwhelming notes of woody vanilla and toasted coconut. Aromatic notes of mocha, cocoa, salted toffee and vanilla.
Clément VSOP Rhum Vieux is distilled from sugarcane juice as is typical in Martinique and proudly wears the "AOC Martinique" designation signifying an exemplary degree of expertise in every stage of production.
